Chaperoning

This course gives an overview of the responsibilities required of professionals when chaperoning, as well as everyday practical advice.

It is particularly relevant to:
  • Clinical and non-clinical General Practice staff
  • Practitioners who may be working alone or in isolated settings (e.g. physiotherapists, chiropractors, and osteopaths)
  • Those in the independent sector
All aspects of chaperoning are covered in this workshop, including, patients’ rights, gender issues, the roles and responsibilities of being a chaperone, as well as the responsibilities of those conducting intimate examinations.

For non-clinical staff especially, the training aims to boost confidence in the duties of a chaperone and to dispel any apprehension about taking on the role within a clinical setting. For clinical staff, the training provides information regarding their responsibilities in the offering and use of chaperones. In addition, delegates are reminded of the national guidance and legislation relevant to chaperoning, e.g. raising concerns and safeguarding.

The workshop meets the training recommendations outlined in the Model Chaperone Framework for primary and community care settings.

We provide this course as a half day workshop.
